Description
The Royal Tour with Anaradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla with Elephant Orphanage and Kandy
3 days on half board
€230/Car + €250 /person

We start at 6 am driving north through the countryside where we can see many different cultivations. We will have lunch on the way and arrive in Anaradhapura in the afternoon. Anaradhapura was the most important city for Sri Lanka ’s ancient royal dynasties and here we will visit 8 different sites with historic or religious interest. After about two hours we go on to Polonnaruwa where we check in at our hotel and have dinner. Polonnaruwa was also an important city for the royal family and here we will visit the archaeological excavation of more than 200 acres. When we are done we go on to Sigiriya, the Royal Rock, which we climb for about two hours. Back down we continue our trip to Dambulla where we stay for the night. In the morning we visit the Golden Buddha and the Cave Temple before we go on to Kandy where we going to visit the Tooth Temple and the Botanical garden. After lunch we go on to the elephant orphanage and in the evening we’ll return to Dalmanuta.

We leave Dalmanuta at 6 am and we go north for Kandy . The road passes through the lush countryside and we stop to have a look at different cultivations. In Pinnawala we visit the elephant orphanage and we have lunch. We arrive in Kandy around 17:00 and after checking in at our hotel we meet up for dinner. After breakfast we leave our things in the hotel and set put for Matale and its Hindu temple. After our visit there we go on to Sigiriya where we are going to climb the Royal Rock. Back down again we eat lunch before we continue to Dambulla for a visit to the Cave Temple and the Golden Buddha. On the way back to Kandy we do a short stop at a wood carving and a batik factory. Back in Kandy we pay a visit to the famous Tooth Temple before we sit down for some devil dancing and later on dinner. After breakfast we leave the hotel for Nuwara Eliya which was once the summer capital of the British administration and famous for its architecture and its tea plantations. Now its time to take a swim and we go to The Hat, two impressive waterfalls carrying the Ganga down towards the cost. We stop for lunch in Kithugala, where the film “The Bridge over the River Kwai” was shot, before we go back to Dalmanuta.

We leave Dalmanuta at 6 am and head south on the Galle road. We visit the old Dutch Fort which is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. We go on to Matara where we visit the Big Temple and we have lunch. We will arrive at our hotel in Tissamaharama around 2 pm and we check in at our hotel and rest for an hour before we get into the Jeep and the safari starts. For the next three to four hours we will be back in the original nature hoping to see Elephant, deer, monkey, crocodile, wild boar, peacock and many other birds and if we are very lucky we might also see leopard and black bear as they come to the waterhole at sunset. After breakfast we go to Nuwara Eliya which was once the summer capital of the British administration and famous for its architecture and its tea plantations. We’ll arrive to Kandy in the evening in time for a visit to the Tooth Temple and some Devil’s dancing and we’ll have dinner at our hotel. In the morning we go for a visit the Botanical garden and then we go on to the Elephant orphanage where we spend several hours. We’ll be back in Dalmanuta in time for dinner.
